Lee Landman and his friends loved to body surf (because they couldn't afford surfboards) off of Santa Monica Beach. So, when he started his pool service business on August 8, 1958, he named it SurfPool.

In 1962, SurfPool moved to a store front on Pico Boulevard in West Los Angeles and stayed there until 1968 when it relocated to Motor Avenue just off of Venice Boulevard. In 1995, SurfPool moved to Culver City California.

In 1971, Lee's daughter Vicki came to work for SurfPool as the Receptionist/Bookkeeper and she's still here. Vicki was more than a receptionist though. She scheduled appointments, walked people through minor repairs and even went out into the field and got hands-on experience in the business. Vicki and her husband Steve now own SurfPool.

Steve has been repairing swimming pools for the past 27 years. If it can be fixed, Steve can fix it. He installs new equipment and trouble shoots most any type of pool equipment. If he can't fix it, which is rare, he'll find someone who can.

Surfpool presently has five fulltime maintenance and repair people on staff.
