What
is a "shock treatment"?
Particularly
during times of heavy use, pollutants such as urine, saliva and suntan
lotions may enter your pool causing a decrease in chlorine residual.
The addition of large doses of chlorine (3 - 5 time the normal dosage)
or "shock treatments" are sometimes necessary to kill bacteria
and maintain proper levels of chlorine residual.
